VIR COMMEMORATES THE 80TH BIRTHDAY OF THE FATHER OF THE REGIMENT

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a brief formality in celebration of the 80th birthday anniversary of the Father of the Regiment, Major General Jaliya Nammuni (Retired) RSP VSV USP on 6 September 2023 at his residence, with the partaking of the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Deepal Pussella, the Centre Commandant VIR and several other officers and family members of the guest.

Major General Nammuni was evidently touched by the commemorative formalities and he was humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support from the VIR family members, and highlighted that the mementos presented to him were priceless and that he would cherish them forever.

The birthday celebration formality was a heartwarming event that would be remembered by all who attended. It was a fitting tribute and a perfect manner to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who has dedicated his life to both Sri Lanka Army and the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
