The newly-appointed Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), Major General S U M N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc assumed the office on 09 June 2023 during an auspicious ceremony held at SLAVF Headquarters in Kosgama.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commandant in accordance with military formalities after he was welcomed on arrival at the premises. Subsequently, the formalities of assuming duties with the signing of documents at auspicious time marked the acceptance of his new office amidst religious observances.
Having assumed duties, Major General Nishantha Manage planted a sapling near the Rendezvous pavilion premises in memory of this special occasion and addressed all the officers and other ranks of the Volunteer Force Headquarters.
Later, the brief ceremony culminated with all rank welcome refreshment arranged in honour of the new Commandant.
In addition to his new appointment, Major General Nishantha Manage is currently serving as the Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, and has served a number of other senior key appointments in the capacities of operational, administrative and staff across the country since his enlistment to the Army in 1987.
