18TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 5 VIR ASSUMES DUTIES

Major HAAG Sathkumara RSP USP psc assumed duties as the 18th Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04 March 2023. A brief ceremony was held which included religious observances, planting of a tree sapling and a troop address.

Major HAAG Sathkumara RSP USP psc has joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy to the Regular Intake SC 10 on 23 February 2001. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 29 December 2001 and was posted to the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

During his illustrious military career he rendered his service in various command, staff and instructor appointments and performed effectively, serving almost all operational areas, various headquarters and training establishments.

All officers and Other Rankers of the 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment extended warm wishes to the newly appointed Commanding Officer.
