It is with deep regret and profound sadness that the Colonel of the Regiment and all ranks of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment to pronounce the demise of Major MWNPB Rambukwella on 22 May 2022. .
Major MWNPB Rambukwellawas bornon04November1953 and received his education at Kingswood College Kandy. .
Young Nandana Rambukwella joined Srilanka Military Academy Diyatalawaas an Officer Cadet on 05 December1980. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 01 April 1983and subsequently posted to The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. He served in numerous Commanding and Staff appointments in different capacities. .
He held many appointments in different capacities during his long and glorious military career. Some of the significant appointments amongst them were Second In Command and Commanding Officer of 3rd Battalion The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
He has participated in main operations such as Rivirasa, Jayasikuru, Kinihira, Agnikheela, North and East Humanitarian Operation conducted by Sri Lanka Army. He was awarded withPurna Bhumi Padakkama, Rivirasa Campaign Service Medal, Srilanka Army 50th Anniversary Medal and North Humanitarian Operation Medalin recognition of his unblemished and distinguished service rendered to the Sri Lanka Army. .
Major MWNPB Rambukwellawas a source of encouragement and inspiration to the Officers and Other Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. He served the Army and the country with utmost dedication, displaying exemplary qualities as an officer and a gentleman during his illustrious military career that extended for more than 20 years. The exemplary leadership he gave to the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimentwill be remembered forever. .
The last rites of Major MWNPB Rambukwellawas held on 25th May 2022atthe Mahaiyawa Public Cemetery with full military honors. The Colonel of the Regimentand all Ranks of Vijayabahu Infantry Regimentjoined the family members in sharing their sadness at this moment of grief. .
