On the eve of the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, the most important event for Buddhists its phenomenal significance, VIjayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre produced mammoth and multi-coloured ‘Vesak’ lantern at Regimental premises. Brigadier Sumal Hemarathna, the Centre Commandant of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment switching on the lights in the presence of a few Officers and Other Ranks as dusk fell.
This natural material spectacle was produced by talented artists of VIR battalions under the supervision of Major Darshana Vithanage, Commanding Officer of the 6th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and it will remain open at the regimental premises for a few days. Centre Commandant appreciated CO 6 VIR and the troops involved in preparing such a beautiful and worthy VESAK LANTERN which lights the regimental with VESAK EVE.
