More Smuggled Turmeric Stocks Detected

7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 54 Division HQ in Mannar apprehended two suspects together with smuggled turmeric during a search at the Mannar Bridge road block this morning (25).

7 VIR troops of the 54 Infantry Division near the Mannar Bridge along Medawachchiya-Mannar road on suspicion stopped a Toyota Dyna lorry and searched the vehicle before the stock of turmeric, worth about Rs 360,000/= was detected.

Army, Navy and Air Force troops throwing their full-weight behind the government's all-out war against narcotics, drugs and smuggling of contraband have in the past few days recovered drugs, turmeric and other contraband from Mannar and elsewhere. Investigations are underway.
