1724 OTHER RANKS OF VIR WERE ELEVATED TO THEIR NEXT RANK COINCIDES WITH 11TH NATIONAL WAR HEROES’ DAY

According to the historic promotion of Army Other Ranks coincides with National War Heroes’ Day on 2020 May 19, total 1724 Other Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were elevated to their next rank effective from 18th May 2020. On the 11th commemoration of defeating ruthless LTTE organization, Lieutenant General Shavindra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army initiated this biggest share of promotions on the guidelines of the Army Directorate of Personnel Administration (DPA), led by Brigadier Sisira Pilapitiya, Director, DPA and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on the guidelines given by the Adjutant General of the Army.

Warrant Officer I - 13, Warrant Officer II - 46, Colour Sergeant - 90, Sergeant - 208, Temporary Corporal - 523, Lance Corporal - 780 and 64 ERE based promotions were included to this four digit number of promotions of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

The investiture ceremony of these promotions were ceremonially held at the Regimental Centre of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Boyagane on 18 May 2020 according to the COVID – 19 quarantine regulations. Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant and other Grade I Staff Officers of the Vijaybahu Infantry Regiment investitured the ranks to the Other Ranks who elevated to their next rank.
