Karate sportsmen in the 7Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) claimed victory in the ‘Inter Unit Karate Championship – 2018’, organized for the 9th consecutive time by the VIR at indoor stadium at Boyagane.
Colonel Bandaranayake USP- Deputy Commandant VIR as the Chief Guest witnessed the final tussle and joined the awarding ceremony. Several Senior Officers and Officers were present during the finals.
207 competitors representing all VIR units got underway during 28 – 31 October. 7 VIR boxers carried away the Overall Championship, knocking Others. They won 8 Gold, 5 Silver and 7 Bronze medals. The Runner-up, 14VIR karate sportsmen won 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.
For the 9th time 7th VIR has won the championship continuously.
