THE 4TH GENERAL MEETING OF VIR EX SERVICEMEN ASSOCIATION HELD AT RHQVIR
The 4th Annual General meeting of Ex servicemen Association was held under the patronage of former President of the Vijayabahu Ex Servicemen Association Maj General (Retd) Jaliya Nanmuni, on 4th March 2016 at Regimental Headquarters Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment . More than 350 members attended this event and the Col Of the Regiment Maj Gen KC Gunawardena RWP USP ndu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
After lighting the traditional oil lamp, two minutes silence was observed in memory of the fallen war heroes. Next the Hon President Maj Gen (Retd) DM Munasinghe delivered the welcome speech. The progress of the previous General meeting was delivered by the Secretary of the Association Capt (Retd) BACC Somarathne and the previous Budget Report was delivered by the Treasurer Maj (Retd) AM Gunathilaka.
This years General meeting was special because, new office bearers for the Association were elected. The members proposed and seconded the previous office bearers for the next two years. Maj General (Retd) D.U.Munasinghe, was re-elected for the next two years as the President. The members appreciated the good work and the commitments of the previous committee members. The members also, had the opportunity to give their comments and ideas about the General Meeting of the Association.
The Chief Guest Maj Gen KC Gunawardane RWP USP ndu, Col of the Regiment in his speech pledged that his support will be given for the betterment of the association.
The Vote of thanks was delivered by Capt (Retd) BACC Somarathne and the meeting concluded with lunch at The salute Multifunctional hall.
