‘PIRITH’ CHANTING & ‘MORNING ALMSGIVING’ AT RHQ VIR TO BLESS 33rd REGIMENTAL ANNIVERSARY

An over-night ‘Pirith’ chanting followed by offering of morning almsgiving was organized by the Regimental Centre of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on par with the forthcoming 33rd Regimental Day which got underway on 18, 19 March 2023 at the Regimental Centre premises.

Soon after a colourful and traditional procession encompassing various cultural dances and events, the Maha Sangha was ushered to the temple premises at the Regimental Centre and symbolically invited to commence the ‘Pirith’ chanting by the day’s Chief Guest, Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage, in keeping with ancient traditions and customs.

The chief incumbent on behalf of the members of the Maha Sangha delivered an ‘Anusasana’ and bestowed blessings on the organization and both injured and fallen War Heroes, recalling the glorious history of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. He also praised the Army's diversified role and wished good luck as the defenders of the nation.

Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage, senior officers, officers and troops representing All Ranks participated in this meritorious event. Offering of the ‘Heel Daana’ and ‘Pirikara’ on Saturday (18) morning to 32 monks at the Corporals’ Club brought the ceremony to a culmination.
