VIR SEVA VANITHA BRANCH CELEBRATES CHILDRENS’ DAY

In commemoration of Childrens’ Day, a special programme for children on par with forthcoming 74th Army Day was held on 01 October 2023 at ‘The Salute’ Multifunctional Hall of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, under the distinguished patronage of the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage.

In line with the aforesaid ceremony, a fully-fledged publication complex constructed by VIR Seva Vanitha Branch was ceremonially opened by the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage upon an invitation extended by the President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Himali Pussella.

In addition, under the direction of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP and the President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Himali Pussella, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment held another special programme at Archers Cinema Hall marking the Childrens’ Day. The Hon. President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage graced this vibrant occasion as the Chief Guest.

On arrival, the Chief Guest, Mrs Janaki Liyanage was received by the President along with other members of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch at the entrance of the Archers Cinema Hall. Then, the event commenced with the lighting of traditional oil lamp by the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage together with the President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Himali Pussella and several other members of the Branch. After reciting the Seva Vanitha anthem, all did not forget to observe two minutes silence in a sincere moment of gratitude honored in memory of fallen war heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland. As the notable part of the event, valuable gift packs including school bags, gift vouchers and stationary items were donated to 20 school children of civil staff of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Later on, the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage was awarded a special memento marking her gracious presence as the Chief Guest for the Childrens’ Day programme. Simultaneously, the President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Janaki Liyanage presented a special token of appreciation to the President VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Himali Pussella, commending the dedicated effort made by her and the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch in order to organize such a wonderful Childrens’ Day programme in a lucrative manner facilitating the children. Adding memories to the day, the Hon. President of Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit, was invited to pose for a group photograph with all members of the VIR Seva Vanitha Branch together with children at the culmination of the programme.

The Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP, the Adjutant General of Sri Lanka Army, Major General S R B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, the Centre Commandant, several other Senior Officers, Officers together with spouses and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment participated in the event.
