Lance Corporal Fernando of 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment arrived to the Motherland after participating for the 8th World Carrom Championship 2022 which was held from 03 to 07 October 2022 in Langkawi, Malaysia. The Sri Lankan team emerged as the 1st Runners-up during the tournament after competing with 17 international teams which are members of the International Carrom Federation. Lance Corporal Fernando of 8th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and another two players from Sri Lanka Army Womens Corps were included to the national carrom team from Sri Lanka Army which consisted of 7 players. World Carrom Championship is held every four years.
