To coincide with forthcoming festive season, Christmas celebration evening organized by the Christian Fellowship of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the patronage of the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, was held at the St. Lourdes Children's Home, Malkaduwawa on 12 December 2023.
The event commenced with the gracious presence of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Rohitha Aluvihare. Then, Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana made the welcome speech followed by reading of gospel by Rev. Sister Jasintha of St. Lourdes Children's Home.
Filling the hearts with the joy of season, VIR Ransara Band, Members of VIR Christian Fellowship and their family members and children of St. Lourdes Children's Home sang verses and performed in remembrance of the Prince of the Peace before the audience.
During the itinerary of the eve, adding more significance to the event, the staff and children of St. Lourdes Children's Home were presented with Christmas gifts. Meanwhile, the President of Christian Fellowship of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Brigadier Jude Fernando in his thanking speech expressed oral tribute to everyone who assisted to make VIR Christmas celebrations 2023 a grand success. Finally, the day`s event reached into a culmination with a well-arranged Christmas tea organized by the organizing committee.
Regiment Council members, Senior Officers, Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre, members of VIR Christian Fellowship and Other Ranks together with their families were present on the occasion.
