VIJAYABAHU RIDERS SHOWS SKILLS AT FOX HILL

Sri Lanka\'s premier annual motor sporting event, \'Diyatalawa Fox Hill Supercross\' was held at Diyatalawa the former garrison town 24th Sunday, April 2016. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva and his spouse, Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) were among those present at the occasion. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in coordination with the Sri Lanka Auto Sports Drivers Association (SLADAR). This year, more than 149 riders and 190 drivers participated in 24 events including 12 motor bikes and 12 cars and jeeps event. More than 25000 spectators were present to witness the races this year. Representing the Army team there are four Riders from VIR Participated for the Foxhill Super cross 2016. Cpl Wijerathne PR - 7VIR, L/Cpl Jothipala GDKGM - 20(V)VIR, L/Cpl Thilakarathne - 1VIR and L/Cpl Premarathne -1VIR are riders from Vijayabahu who shows their riding skills at the unique 1.2 km motor Bike track. L/Cpl Wijerathne and L/Cpl Premarathne proved they are the best riders of Sri lanaka Army. Wijerathne won the 1st place 125 STD Open event and it was very Competitive event. Beginning of the race Wijerathne had to follow a rider for a small distance but he overcome it very soon and passed him with a classy jump. Sameera Premarathne won the 1st place in 125 Racing Forces Race and it was a very tough ride all the way through the dusty environment but he ends it in victoriously. He participated for 250 Racing Race one and Race two with whom have more experiences and superior riders in Sri Lanka. Respectively 5th and 4th places won by him and it was just like a message given to superiors Riders that Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment is the place which producing skillful and best talented Riders to the nation. Riders who have participated to the Foxhill Suprcross 2016 shows skill and talent entire day and they waved the Vijayabahu flag above than all. Col of the Regiment Maj Gen KC Gunawaradane RWP USP ndu highly appreciated achievements of Riders and organized warm welcome two days after the race. They were welcomed by the Col of the Regiment and appreciated them at the RHQ VIR. After the exceptional welcome by Col of the Regiment the Riders with trophies walked to the function and displayed their skills and talent to the other soldiers at the Archers Cinema by a presentation. Riders could able to eyewitness how they ride in Foxhill super cross video by a video displayed during the Presentation. After the presentation this event concluded with a tea party which was arranged at ORs mess for them to share the contentment with officers and soldiers of VIR.
