The Vijayabahu Motocross - 2018, Organized by The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment In Collaboration with Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association, Sri Lanka Mortorcycle Riders Association was held at Vijayabahu Motocross circuit at Boyagane on 17 June 2018. The event was once again, absolute success, and all spectators enjoyed trilling experiences during the Vijayabahu Motocross – 2018 while creating avenues for riders to demonstrate their talents.
Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne PC was attended as a chief guest of the event and Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne Chief of Defence Staff,Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake were attended as special invitees for the event. Colonel of the regiment Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment / Deputy chief of staff Maj Gen Ajith Kariyakarawnawarmly welcomed them.
Approximately 136 numbers of riders at various capacities competed the 13 events including a rider Tomaya Suzuki from Japan. Commander of the Army’s Trophy was won by CplNihal Wijerathne of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment while Ishan Dassanayake won the Champion trophy being the fastest rider of the race. DMDK Devaraj became the emerging rider of the year.
Event was live telecasted on Channel Eye Rupavahini and more than 10000 spectators presented to witness the event.
