VIJAYABAHU MOTOCROSS CONCLUDED WITH VICTORIOUS MEMORIES

The Vijayabahu Motocross - 2017, organized by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration with Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association was held at Vijayabahu Motocross circuit at Boyagane on 02 April 2017.

The event was once again, absolute success, and all spectators enjoyed trilling experiences during the Vijayabahu Motocross 2017 while creating avenues for riders to demonstrate their talents.

Major General N.U.M.M.W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army represented the Commander of the Army at this grand motocross event conducted for the 15th consecutive year in 2017. Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A. Kariyakarawane USP ndc welcomed the chief guest.

It was an enjoyable day for spectators. Riders handled their machines in very competitive way. Isan Dasanayake one of the most talented riders in Sri Lanka and the winner of Vijayabahu Championship in 2016 has shown his capabilities and the ability throughout races but Rider from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Sameera Premarathne was chased behind him to bring back the glory to home.

Early hours of the day Isahan Dassanayake dominated his name but he couldnâ able to maintain it with the massive competition given by the Sammera Premarathne during each and every races. Finally Vijayabhau Championship trophy brought back to the home by Sameera Premarathne.

Army Commanders trophy which is awarding to the competitors who are representing defence services events is one of major awards in Vijayabahu Motocross. Vijayabahu Rider Cpl Nihal Vijerathne has proved at his own circuit that still no one there to challenge his capabilities to take away the said trophy from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Nihal Vijerathne skills facilitated to retain the trophy at Boyagane.

In an Intention of uplift talents of young Riders skills and improve the participations to this wonderful sport, Emerging Rider trophy is awarding by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and Channel eye. Vinushka Silva, the young rider who have shown the bright future of motor sport on the Vijyabahu Track today. Everybody was delighted the way he handle the race and the fast he maintain throughout his races. Vinushka could able to write his name as the winner of Emerging Rider in Vijayabahu Motocross 2017.

Longest Jump event was the most attractive event that expected by spectators. Riders have presented their maximum talents in this event. During the race Sameera Premarathne was very comfortable with his machine. In first lap Sameera Premarathne was bit behind to the former champion Ishan Dasanayake but Sameera didnâ stop the threat given to the bike infront of him. Ishan dasanayake didn give any chance to Sammera to pass his bike and maintained a favorable gap also.

Beginning of the in 3rd lap Ishan was fail to get the second bend in tactically and he fallen with his bike. That advantage has taken by the Rider produced from vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and turned over the event in to his hands. Skill full Ishan Dasanayak recovered and started the chase to overtake the Sammera Premarathne and it was the great battle happened during the day. Ishan Dasanayake came very closer to his Army opposite rider but finally event was dominated by Sameera Premarathne with the touch on 120m post and marked the Longest jump of the year.

Approximately 120 numbers of riders including a rider from Japan at various capacities compete 14 events and winners as follows.
