Upon a request made by Regional Blood Bank Kurunegala, a blood donation campaign organized under the direction of the President of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, Madam Kumudu Manage, was successfully held at "The Salute" Multifunctional Hall premises at Boyagane, Kurunegala on 09 May 2023.
Having graced the occasion as the chief guest, the President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch, Madam Kumudu Manage lit the traditional oil lamp ceremonially marking the commencement of the programme amidst religious observances. Further, the Secretary, Madam Krishi Gunathilake, members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, senior officers, officers and soldiers attended in this brief ceremony.
As projected, the blood donation programme was functioned efficiently by the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration of Regional Blood Banks of Kurunegala and Kuliyapitiya.
A large group of army personnel serving under the Regimental Centre, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 6th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment as well as the Regimental Headquarter Battalion voluntarily participated in the programme by donating their blood for this noble cause.
At the end of the programme, the staff serving in the regional blood banks did not forget to appreciate the generosity and immeasurable support rendered by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment for saving the lives of patients by donating much-needed blood.
