TROOPS AT RHQ VIR PLUCKED THEIR MAIDEN HARVEST UNDER THE CULTIVATION & AGRONOMY PROJECT

Harvesting of maiden brinjal harvest cultivated by the troops of Administrative Branch of Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre under the first phase of Cultivation & Agronomy project, took place on 26 July 2022 morning during a brief ceremony. In that, total 11.75 kg of brinjal harvest was plucked with the participation of the Centre Commandant and staff members of the Administrative branch.

Due to the prevailing economic calamity in the country, with the aim of successfully encounter possible future food crisis, harmonized with the cultivation perception of the Commander of the Army, under the directions and guidance of Director General General Staff, Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, and direct supervision of Regimental Centre Commandant Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, Cultivation and Agronomy Project commenced in the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre camp premises covering an area of almost 12 acres.

All officers and other ranks in the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre are contributing for this timely important project and the result will be to meet the food requirements of the troops and to produce surplus in case of any difficulty in obtaining raw rations for the troops.
