THRILLED VIJAYABAHU MOTOCROSS – 2015 MAKES NEW RECORDS
The 13th Vijayabahu Motocross the sporting pride of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) got underway at Boyagane VIR Headquarters complex tracks on Sunday (24) to a packed crowd of more than 50000 sports enthusiasts and motor racing fans.\r\n\r\n‘Vijayabahu Motocross has the country’s most difficult track with fourteen bends, two double jumps and four single jumps, with an approximate length of 2 kms.\r\n\r\nThe exciting event, organized by the VIR Regimental Headquarters was held in collaboration with Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association and Sri Lanka Motorcycle Riders Association \r\n\r\nLieutenant General Crishante De Silva, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.\r\n\r\nOn arrival at the venue, the Chief Guest was received by Major General Jagath Dias, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and other senior officers. \r\n\r\nThe year\'s most exciting and thrilling experience of the VIR calendar included 14 events with the participation of over 100 local and foreign veterans in the field of motor-racing. Motor race fans from India and Japan also participated in the events. \r\n\r\n\'Vijayabahu Motocross’ has lavishly contributed towards Army welfare and rehabilitation projects, meant for disable VIR War Heroes, families of fallen War Heroes and all the War Heroes in general. \r\n\r\nPresentation of trophies and merit awards was made by the Commander of the Army and several other sponsors. \r\n
