OFFICERS` TRAINING DAY SECOND QUARTER 2023 CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

The Officers’ Training Day for the second quarter of the year 2023 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 04 August 2023 with the participation of more than 200 officers including several council members and a few other senior officers of the regiment.

As scheduled, the day's proceedings commenced with a morning physical training session at the Regimental Playground, and the day’s first lecture was conducted on the topic of "An approach to the traditional foods of Sri Lanka that focuses on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD)" by Doctor Yudhisteera Wedisinghe who was a former medical officer in charge of Vector-Borne Diseases Control for the Ministry of Health, Western Province, Sri Lanka. This interactive session followed an interesting question-and-answer session where the officers were able to seek clarifications about issues of their concern. The second session was a lecture on the topic of "Completing Officers' ACRs : Policies and Procedures", conducted by Lieutenant Colonel RMHB Ratnayake RSP USP psc MIR, Staff Officer I (OCPC), Military Secretariat Branch of Army Headquarters. Breaking the monotony of the day, participants got the opportunity to play their preferred sports during the evening recreational session.

In line with the Officers’ Training Day, another successful Diners` Club session was held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane with the participation of officers serving in various military establishments including officers of VIR Battalions. As the guest speaker of the night, the Director of the Research Centre, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Professor Lalith Chandralal conducted an informative and thought-provoking lecture on the topic “Beyond the Ordinary: Chasing Extraordinary Experiences in the Experience Economy”. Officers took the opportunity to share their views with the audience and had an interactive session with the guest speaker.

The Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General S U M N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc graced this occasion as the Chief Guest and several Regimental Council Members, Regimental Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Other Officers also participated in this event.
