NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERAL NALIN BANDARANAYAKE AND BRIGADIER INDIKA KARUNANAYAKA HONOURED IN A FELICITATION CEREMONY

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, following its’ traditions and military formalities with the blessings of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP and supervision of the Centre Commandant, saluted the newly promoted Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP and Brigadier KLI Karunanayaka RWP RSP on 22 September 2023 in a fitting ceremony, held at the VIR Regimental Centre, Boyagane.

Tributes were respectively offered by warmly receiving the day's Guests of Honour and subsequent Guard Turnout at the entrance in accordance with military formalities. Afterwards, in remembrance of all fallen Vijayabahu War Heroes, Brigadier Indika Karunanayaka and Major General Nalin Bandaranayake laid the floral wreaths at the War Heroes Monument and PWV Monument paying their tributes in a sincere ceremony. Simultaneously, a Guard of Honour was accorded to newly promoted Major General Nalin Bandaranayake in keeping with military traditions. Adding memories to the day, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake and Brigadier Indika Karunanayaka posed for a group photograph with all officers at the regimental parade ground.

Leaving an indelible gesture, newly promoted Major General Nalin Bandaranayake and Brigadier Indika Karunanayaka were then ushered to All Ranks Tea Party arranged at the Other Ranks’ Mess and symbolic mementoes were presented by the Colonel of the Regiment to engrave this remarkable event. Then, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake together with Brigadier Indika Karunanayaka expressed their gratitude to the Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandant, and All Ranks of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment for arranging such a grateful felicitation for them in a short preparation.
