Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment assumed duties as the new Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 17 August 2023 during an auspicious ceremony held at SLAVF Headquarters in Kosgama.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commandant in accordance with military formalities after he was welcomed on arrival at the premises. Subsequently, the formalities of assuming duties with the signing of documents at auspicious time marked the acceptance of his new office amidst religious observances.
Having assumed duties, Major General Deepal Pussella planted a sapling near the Rendezvous pavilion premises in memory of this special occasion and addressed all the officers and other ranks of the Volunteer Force Headquarters.
Later, the brief ceremony culminated with all rank welcome refreshment arranged in honour of the new Commandant.
Major General Deepal Pussella has held a number of senior key appointments in the capacities of operational, administrative and staff across the country since his enlistment to the Army in 1987.
