On 07 October 2022, bracing an age-old military tradition, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment hosted a Farewell Military Dinner Night in honour of the retiring Major General RADP Ranawaka RWP RSP USP ndc and retired Major General UUKLS Perera RWP RSP USP psc, and outgoing members of the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs. Apsara Ranawaka and Mrs. Christine Perera at “The Salute” multifunctional hall, in which the service was hailed and awarded tributes under the directions of the Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage.
Major General Prasanna Ranawaka, Major General Laksiri Perera and their spouses were welcomed warmly on arrival at the venue by officers and spouses of the Vijayabahu Family. The Centre Commandant raised the toast and made the complimentary speech at the occasion, in which he paid a glowing tribute to the distinguished military service of Major General Prasanna Ranawaka and Major General Laksiri Perera to the Sri Lanka Army.
The day's farewell treat reached at its climax with presentation of mementos to the day's protagonists in appreciation of the service rendered towards the regiment. As a custom specially designed tokens of appreciation also was presented to the outgoing members of the Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Apsara Ranawaka and Mrs. Christine Perera.
Senior officers including Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage, The Centre Commandant, senior officers of VIR regimental centre and their spouses were there to bid them farewell.
