A FISHERMAN STUCK IN SWIRLING WATERS IN KOTMALE RESCUED BY THE TROOPS OF 5 VIR

Sri Lanka Army is being the main stakeholders and frontliners exclusively prime responsive element for all kind of stakes was once again proved as a fisherman stuck in swirling waters in Kotmale rescued by the brave archers of 5 VIR.

A person fishing in adjacent waters around the Kotmale Oya who got stuck after being carried away by gushing waters, was rescued around 12.00 noon on 14 November 2021 by 5th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 581 Brigade with much difficulty as water levels were fast swelling.

On the instructions of the Maj Mahesh Pathiraja, Commanding Officer of 5 VIR, troops swiftly jumped into the waters using nylon ropes and rescued the sinking fisherman who had got stuck in swirling water currents before he was brought to the bank.
