The Sri Lanka Army, honored as “Defender of the Nation” celebrated its 73rd anniversary (The Army Day) with splendor at Panagoda, Sri Lanka Light Infantry parade ground on 10 October 2022.
The 73rd Army Day parade which consisted of 77 Officers and 652 Other Ranks of all 25 Regiments with colour squads, was commanded by Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General Nishantha Manage.
During the occasion the day's Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, The Commander of the Army in his brief address paid tribute to all past Commanders, fallen and wounded War Heroes, serving officers, Other Ranks, civil servants and their families and insisted all ranks to endure their good work and commitment in future as well for the best interests of the country. He stressed that the Army will always be committed towards preserving the constitution and the democratic process while ensuring the wellbeing of the community. Chief of Staff, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, Security Force Commanders, Senior officers, officers and Other Ranks participated for this glamorous event.
