Construction of a new Pagoda for the temple premises of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was initiated under the directions of the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP on 13 September 2023.
The foundation stone laying ceremony for erection of the new Pagoda was held amongst religious formalities and blessings of the Maha Sangha and the laying of the foundation stone was done by the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Deepal Pussella RWP RSP amidst pirith chanting at auspicious time.
The Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Regimental Staff, Commanding Officers of 6 VIR and Headquarter Battalion, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, several Officers and Other Ranks also participated in this meritorious ceremony.
