Colonel P S S Sanjeewa RSP psc assumed office on 17 December 2020 as the Commander of the Air Mobile Brigade in Velankulam, Vauniya amid military formalities and religious observances.
Colonel Subath Sanjeewa was born on 26 October 1972 and was educated at Ananda College, Colombo. He enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 26 August 1991 to Regular Intake 36. Having completed his basic military training at Sri Lanka Military Academy, he was commissioned on 19 June 1993 and posted to the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
He has held numerous important appointments during his military career in Command, Staff and Instructional capacities. He has commanded 22nd Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (Airmobile Battalion) respectively.
In staff appointment he was Adjutant of the 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. As an instructor he was Officer Instructor at the Sri Lanka Military Academy and Chief Instructor at Vijayabau Infanty Training School, Puttalam. Further, he was appointed as Director Academic at Sri Lanka Military Academy, United Nations Military Staff Officer in Democratic Republic of Haiti (MINUSTAH), Directing Staff at Defence Services Command and Staff College, Sapugaskanda, Deputy Dean at Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Southern Campus/Acting Registrar in KDU and Colonel (General Staff) of Security Forces Headquarters (East).
Besides the Courses of training he followed in Sri Lanka, he has followed military courses in India, Bangladesh and United States of America. Having attended the Army Command and Staff Course in Sri Lanka in the year 2006, he was selected to follow his second Staff Course at Defence Servicers Command and Staff College Dhakka, Mirpur, Bangladesh in 2008. Further, he is an alumina of Naval Postgraduate’s School, Monterey, California, USA. He holds following Master Degrees and Diploma’s:
a. Masters of Defense Studies (M def S) at University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka
b. Masters of Military Science (MSc) Second Class, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Bangladesh
c. Master of Arts degree (MA, CT&SS) in National Security Affairs (Counter Terrorism Policy and Strategy), Naval Postgraduate’s School, Monterey, California, United States of America
d. Diploma in Human Rights, Institute of Human Rights Colombo, Sri Lanka
e. Certificate for Computer Driving License at NAITA, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Apart from the academic qualifications, Colonel Subath Sanjeewa also a good writer and produced many scholarly articles and research papers, namely:

He was awarded by Regimental Colors for best sports activities and received “Rana Soora Padakkama” twice for excellent conduct and bravery in the battlefield.
