National Para Badminton Championship 2021 organized by National Paralympic Committee underwent on 11 December 2021 at the Provincial Sports Ministry Badminton Indoor Stadium, Anuradhapura. The first and last National Para Badminton Championship was held on year 2012 and VIR Para Badminton players competed in that debut tournament as well. Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee, Brigadier Dhananjaya Aludeniya participated for the event as the special representative of National Paralympic Committee.
Total 12 Army Sports Clubs and 4 Civil Sports Clubs competed for this national level supremacy during the tournament and 7 Para Badminton players of VIR vied for the championship.
The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment para badminton team emerged as the Champions by dominating majority of events during the tournament.
S/518075 Cpl Udaya Kumara WGS was titled as the Champion while S/519359 Cpl Sampath Kumara APT secured the Runner-Up slot in Wheelchair Single (Below waist paralyzed/Below knee amputated) event. These two magnificent players were also reigned the arena as the Champions in Wheelchair Double (Below waist paralyzed/Below knee amputated) event.
Commanding Officer Regimental Headquarter Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Sanjaya Wijesundara and Major Neel Thissakumara attended for the event.
