ACCOMMODATION PREFAB BUILDING, ‘‘V HIVE’’ CAFETARIA AND RENOVATED BOXING RING CEREMONIALLY UNVEILED

While uplifting the living standard and the welfare of the soldiers as well as sporting abilities of the VIR boxers, an accommodation prefab building, ‘‘V Hive’’ cafeteria and renovated boxing ring were ceremonially declared open by the Director General General Staff Sri Lanka Army, Commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nishantha Manage during a solemn ceremony on 13 May 2023.

Including all fundamental facilities, the prefab building was erected in order to accommodate soldiers serving in the regimental centre. The boxing ring was renovated, entailing all the essential facilities meeting the standards of an international boxing ring with an enlarged arena. After the opening ceremony of this modernized boxing ring, an exhibiting boxing bout was staged, showcasing the energetic skills of VIR boxers. Simultaneously, the Colonel of the Regiment gave away prizes to boxing players and referees, admiring their contribution for the Vigayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Later, Colonel of the Regiment officially opened the “V Hive” cafeteria which was a long felt requirement for the Archers Sports Complex which could be highly benefitted for both army personnel and civilians when utilizing Archers Sports Complex.

Finally, the day’s programme culminated with a fabulous tea arranged at “V Hive” cafeteria premises.
