To coincide with the 73rd National Independence Day with the guidelines and instructions of the Army Headquarters, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regimental Centre launched a sequence of events on 4 February 2021 with the participation of Deputy Centre Commandant, Staff Officers and Other Ranks by adhering all the guidelines that stipulated to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic. Programme commenced with the hoisting of National Flag by the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Colonel K A D C R Kannangara RSP and two-minute silence was observed to remind all the patriots and war heroes who scarified their lives for the noble cause of defending the freedom, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Mother Sri Lanka.
Further, Independence Day massage of Commander of the Army was delivered and then all troops attended to witness the Independence Day ceremony and His Excellency the President’s Independence Day speech live telecasting at the Archers Cinema. After that, planting of saplings at the camp premises got underway with the participant of all Ranks.
In addition to that promoting officers and other ranks on a highly regarded day of the calendar which is the Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil’s primitive concept to recognise them has been taken place accordingly on this 73rd Independence day. The Deputy Centre Commandant wore new ranks for the newly promoted regimental staff officers and he joined hand with grade 1 staff officers to wear new ranks for newly promoted other ranks at regiment centre.
All troops attended to an All Ranks Tea Party prepared at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall by marking the conclusion of series of events.
