18TH COMMANDING OFFICER OF 1 VIR ASSUMES DUTIES

Major DPK de Silva RWP RSP assumed Duties as the 18th Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 29 August 2022 at the Battalion Headquarters in Thiriyaya.

Major Pubudu de Silvawas born on 29 December 1980 and completed his school education from Revatha College, Balapitiya. He was enlisted to Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 28 June 2000 and followed the basic military training as a Cadet Officer with Intake 52. After a successful training he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 22 June 2002 and was posted to the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Before taking over duties as the Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment he has held numerous appointments such as:

Officer Commanding – 9th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Officer Instructor at Combat Training School –Ampara

Senior Instructor and Chief Instructor at Army Training School – Maduruoya,

OC Admin – 25thBattalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Second in Command (Overlook) – 1st Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Second in Command – 11th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment
