This Unit was set up as the 14th Vijayabha Infantry Regiment beneath the 60/2007 Armed force arrange, on 06th January 2008 with the conventional, devout traditions. The regiment was built up at the Welioya "Sama Sthupa" within the AOR of 593 Brigade beneath 59 Division, and 19 officers and 558 0ther rankers from VIR Regiment and VIR Units were detailed for the event. From the inaugural date, the unit begun as Adm Coy, SP, A B C and D Coys. At the conclusion of the preparing the join together was set up on 23rd Jan 2008 beneath 591 Brigade at Nelumwewa and begun to supply troops for Wanni Compassionate Ops from 26th Jan 2008.
From the inaugural date, the unit started as Adm Coy, A B C D Coy and SP Coy and functioned as collective training groups. At the end of the training the unite was established on 23rd Jan 2008 under 591 Brigade at Nelumwewa and started to provide troops for Wanni Humanitarian Ops from 26th Jan 2008.
The first challenge of the Unit was destroying more than 8 years old, strong, Welioya defence line.
