Captured LTTE's arms and ammunition
With the terrorists cornered to in Puthumathalan events that took place in that area forced the civilians to break away from terrorist control and to flee towards the areas controlled by the Army. All persons thus entering into the area controlled by the Army were dispatched to refugee camps set up elsewhere. Terrorist carders in guise of being civilian refugees approaching the Army on several occasions attacked the soldiers. Troops of the Battalion, being alert to such tactics reacted instantly to counter such attacks.
On completion of the 'Humanitarian Operation' a drive to resettle the people affected by the war commenced. Troops of the Battalion were engaged this process by assisting government agencies in related work.
On 27th June 2014 Lieutenant Colonel YMSCB Jayathilake RSP was appointed as the Commanding Officer and at presentthe Battalion performs duties in the Vishvamadu area while being placed under command to the 572 Brigade of 57 Division.
