11th (Volunteer) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment

On 25th July 2007 all duties relating to the Jaffna Town were handed over to the 20th Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion and on the same day the Battalion took over duties relating to thedefence line at Colombuthurai from the 6th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

With the Battalion being deployed on the front lines at Colombuthurai the Battalion frequently encountered groups of terrorist attempting to infiltrate into the area under control of the Army but successfully prevented and would be infiltrators coming through the line. The troops were also in capturing a number of weapons as well as documents that contained future plans of the enemy.

After the humanitarian operation the commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel BDMG Chandrasiri RSP left the Battalionand Major JAJ Jayarathnewas appointed as an acting commanding officer of the Battalion on 23rd May 2013.

On 25th May 2011 operational duties of area Colombothurai was handed over to the 9th Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion and Battalion moved to Manipai where it was placed under command to the 513 Brigade. Having established the headquarters in Manipai, the A, B, Cand D Companies were deployed in Nawali, Annakotte, Inuviland Kokuvil respectively.

The Battalion carried out numerous civil-military coordination activity and other activity aimed at the welfare of the civilians in Jaffna.
