THE COMMANDANT OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE VISITS THE 1 SRI LANKA ARMY PIONEER CORPS

Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) undertook an official field visit to the 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps ( 1 SLAPC) , on 18 August 2025.

The scheduled visit of the Commandant is primarily intended to assess the effectiveness of the battalion’s operational and administrative functioning. The administrative inspection serves as a key component that assures a healthy establishment atmosphere for its appropriate and smooth existence.

In accordance with the scheduled itinerary, the Commandant SLAVF paid his homage to the cherished memories of fallen war heroes at the memorial of the 1 SLAPC. Following the military formalities, the Guard Turnout marked the profound sense of honour to the Commandant SLAVF upon his arrival to the camp premises.

In meeting with core fundamentals of the visit, the Commandant SLAVF attended the scheduled briefings conducted by the Commanding Officer on current undertakings and operational activities of the battalion with future overviews.

Addressing the troops, the Commandant SLAVF underscored the critical role of a soldier and the Sri Lanka Army in the process of realizing national efforts of the country. In particular, the Commandant SLAVF highlighted the importance of upholding the military stance by upgrading it with essences of military. Further, he emphasized the importance of the Government-led “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, which seeks to foster a sustainable future through transformative attitudes, ethical values and committed service.

To commemorate the visit to the battalion, a sapling was planted by the Commandant SLAVF in the camp premises and took part in the succeeding formalities and the camp visit.

The Commandant concluded his visit with complimentary remarks in the Visitors’ Books of the battalion, commending its standards and contributions to national service.

The event was attended by Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks representing the Headquarters SLAVF, SLRC/SLAPC Coordinating Center and 1 SLAPC.
