Major General B M R J Bandara, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid an official visit to the 2 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps on 21 June 2025.
Upon arrival, Major General Janith Bandara was warmly received by Lieutenant Colonel T M D D Megolla RWP RSP psc SLLI, the Commanding Officer of the 2 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps.
The scheduled visit by the Deputy Commandant is intended to ensure administrative functionality, which is a key component for maintaining a healthy environment and the smooth operation of the corps.
The military formalities were reviewed with a Guard Turnout awarded by the troops of 2 SLRC. Following the initial formalities, during a constructive forum dedicated, the Commanding Officer - 2 SLRC delivered a detailed overview on the current undertakings and operational activities of the corps. The occasion provided a conducive phenomenon for the respective authorities and the under command hierarchy to negotiate with administrative concerns with progressive solutions.
Arriving at the core feature of the visit, the Deputy Commandant emphasized discipline as the foundation of military excellence, highlighting the urgent need to combat indiscipline, drug addiction, and unethical behavior that tarnish the Army’s reputation. Further, he stressed the importance of genuine engagement in functioning process of the establishment with military excellence intensively upholding the Army’s traditions with loyalty, integrity, commitments and professionalism.
Reaching the culmination of the visit, Major General Janith Bandara marked his note of appreciation in the visitors’ book.
The event was attended by Brigadier N Mahawithana KSP - the Brigadier Coordinating Officer of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central), Senior Officers and Officers who represented the Headquarters SLAVF and the 2 SLRC .
