Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid a courtesy visit to the 9 th October 2024. battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, where the place he groomed as a budding officer in the Army on 4 th October 2024.
On 4 th October 2024. morning as per the schedule, he visited 9 (V) SLLI in Jaffna and he warmly received by Lieutenant Colonel H R W R Kumara, the Commanding Officer of 9 (V) SLLI. The troops of the battalion awarded an elite guard turnout in honour of the arrival of the senior officer to the premises.
Later on, the Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers were introduced to the Deputy Commandant SLAVF and he planted a sapling in the premises to mark his arrival as Deputy Commandant SLAVF. Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with officers and other ranks of the unit.
Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP addressing the troops, took the opportunity to convey his warm regards to the Commanding Officer for awarding an elite guard turnout and for giving an opportunity to address the troops. The Senior Officer specifically mentioned that he was indeed a fortunate officerto visithis mother unit by wearing the highest rank in his shoulder as a volunteer officer. Further, he encouraged the officers to reach the highest rank in the Army with dedication and untiring effort.
Thereafter, the senior officer visited the camp premises andas the final segment of the day, a plaque was presented to the Deputy Commandant as a token of appreciation for his visit.
