The Volunteer Force as the second largest military establishment in the Sri Lanka Army deserves the salutation of this nation for the utmost loyalty, integration and commitment beyond its obligation on this soil where its essence meets with societal wellbeing.
The chain of welfare equipped with contemporary facilities of the Sri Lanka Army is being functioned,and the newly established Facility Complexthat provisions the economical drive of the country and satisfies the well-being of the serving members and the non-militants, has proudly been erected as a new addition to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF).
Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu , the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army who laid the foundation stone as the 47 th forerunner in the office of the Commandant, Volunteer Force ceremonially declared open the Welfare Facility Complex at the invitation of Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu - Commandant SLAVF on 11 September 2024 at the Headquarters Premises of the Volunteer Force.
Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara, extended a warm reception to the Commander of the Army on arrival at the occasion ,and he was conferred with a drive-past military salutation by the troops of the Headquarters Volunteer Force.
Following the religious rituals, the memorial plate that mounted on the Facility Complex was unveiled ,and the ceremonial opening was marked by symbolically cutting the ribbon by the Chief Guest. At the auspicious time arrived, the Facility Complex was warmed by the Commander of the Army with the traditional ritual of lighting of the oil lamp at the Facility Complex Premises that a gesture ushers the prosperity and blessings. The occasion was accompanied by Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - Deputy Commandant, Brigadier M M Salwatura RWP RSP USP - Principal Staff Officer and Senior Officers of the HQ SLAVF. The Chief Guest: the first in-store visitor paid call on the space of the Facility Complex,and served the first portion of food at the cafeteria.
The establishment of the Facility Complex is a brainchild of the master plan of the Headquarters SLAVF on its new soil. The Facility Complex took its shape of a two story spectacular building structured with architectural configuration meeting the designed requirements, and consists of a food installation and a cafeteria that measures a mere 2000 square feet of ground floor. The construction process has been realized with the manpower assistance of 10 Corps of Engineer Services.
During the tea custom, the Commander of the Army addressed the gathering and hit the spotlight on the role of a soldier mingled with loyalty, integrity and commitment who should walk through the path where it meets the best interests of the Sri Lanka Army. In the bliss of recollections of adored memories in the Volunteer Force during his tenure of Command, the Chief Guest extended his compliments for arriving this endeavour a greater success viewing his expectation on the fund raising drive to be brought off effectively.
Major General E M M Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO - Commander of the Headquarters Logistics Command,Brigadier Y K S Rangika psc ptsc - Director Engineer Services Army Headquarters, Brigadier Coordinating Officers of the Security Forces Headquarters, Centre Commandant - Sri Lanka National Guard, Commandant - Volunteer Force Training School, Director Administration of the University Hospital, Kotalawala Defence Universityand invited Senior Officers of the respective military establishments attended the occasion.
