WORLD COCONUT DAY CELEBRATION 2024

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force celebrated“World Coconut Day” with a fruitful progamme on planting of coconut saplings under the patronage of Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu - the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 02 September 2024 at the Headquarters premises, SLAVF.

Marking the auspicious ritual, the Commandant, SLAVF accompanied by the senior officers and officers planted saplings of coconut in the proposed arena.

The event was unfolded with the participation of the serving members of the Headquarters,SLAVF and the “Silvermil Foundation”,Loluwagoda, Mirigamaafforded500 coconut saplings for the event.

The coconut day is an international observance dedicated to raising the awareness about the importance of coconuts and promoting the cultivation, utilization, and the numerous benefits they offer. This day serves as an opportunity to highlight the significance of coconuts in various aspects of life, including agriculture, health, nutrition, and the economy.

The event was attended by Major General WGP Sisira Kumara RSP- the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier M M Salwatura RWP RSP USP - Principal Staff Officer,Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Volunteer Force.
