DEPUTY COMMANDANT SLAVF PAYS COURTESY VISITS TO VOLUNTEER BATTALLIONS

Major General W G P Sisira Kumara RSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid courtesy visits to the 5 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry , 4 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and 2(Volunteer) Sri Lanka Singha Regiment on 8th August 2024.

The Deputy Commandant of SLAVF arrived to 5(Volunteer) SLLI, Pallekele where the place he groomed as a budding officer and he was warmly received by Commanding Officer of 5(V) SLLI. The troops of the 5(V) SLLI awarded an elegant guard turnout in honour of the arrival of the Senior Officer to the premises. Subsequently, he laid a floral tribute to the monument in remembrance of fallen war heroes and planted a sapling to mark his arrival at the premises.

While addressing the troops, the Senior Officer in detail mentioned the importance of serving as a team in order to uplift the standard of the establishment. He further conveyed his gratitude on successful integration of duties and responsibilities of the volunteer battalions. The troop address was concluded by presenting a memento to Major General Sisira Kumara RSP in compliment of marking his visit to 5(Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

Afterwards, he arrived to 4(Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, upon the arrival; the Deputy Commandant was welcomed by Commanding Officer of 4(V) SLAOC and awarded with customary formalities of a salutation of Guard Turnout at main entrance. After a while, he planted a sapling in honour of his visit and inspected the battalion.

Later, as the final segment of his visit, he arrived to 2(Volunteer) Sri Lanka Singha Regiment, on arrival, he was warmly received by the Commanding Officer of the 2(Volunteer) SLSR and saluted with a drive pass by the troops of 2(Volunteer) SLSR. Before concluding the day’s itinerary, he inspected the battalion and had a cordial discussion with the officers.
