OFFICERS AND OTHER RANKS OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE RECEIVE PROMOTIONS ON THE INDEPENDENCE DAY

Coincident with the 76 ^th Independence Day, a total of 50 Officers and 493 Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) have been promoted to their respective next ranks.

His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has promoted 02 Lieutenant Colonels to the rank of Colonel and 04 Majors to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on the recommendations of the Ministry of Defence and Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu - Commander of the Army.

Further, 29 Captains to the rank of Major, 13 Lieutenants to the rank of Captain and 02 Second Lieutenants to the rank of Lieutenant have been thus promoted by the Commander of the Army with the recommendation of Major General MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu – Commandant, SLAVF, effective from 04 February 2024

In the category of Other Ranks, a total of 11 Warrant Officers - II to the rank of Warrant Officer -I, 07 Staff Sergeants to the rank of Warrant Officer -II, 13 Sergeants to the rank of Staff Sergeant, 44 Corporals to the rank of Sergeant, 40 Lance Corporals to the rank of Corporal and 80 Privates to the rank of Lance Corporal have also been promoted by the Commander of the Army with the recommendation of the Commandant, SLAVF, effective from 04 February 2024.

In addition, 298 employees under militarized and trade basis have been promoted to their respective next ranks on the same date.

The Senior Officers and Officers who have been performing duties in the Headquarters, SLAVF received their insignias fromthe Commandant, SLAVF.

Major General M T K R Silva KSP - Deputy Commandant, SLAVF, Senior Officers and Officers extended their heartiest commendations upon promotions which are indeed a reward and a bless for their long years of dedicated military service.
