INFRASTRUCTURES UNDERSCORE THE SMOOTH FUNCTIONS OF THE VOLUNTEER FORCE TRAINING SCHOOL

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS) serves as the utmost training establishment of the Volunteer Force, and is tasked as the basic training provider for the aspiring ranks and files who join the Sri Lanka Army. Enhancing its utmost requirement, the newly-constructed Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess was declared open by Lieutenant General HLVM Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Colonel JAG Jayarathne KSP, the Commandant VFTS on 17 December 2023 at the VFTS.

Augmenting its infrastructures beyond the existing facilities, the erecting of Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess where hard earned traditions and standards are preserved, has been accomplished under the financial assistance of the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force and the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka National Guard. The mess facilitates Senior Non-commissioned Officers and other transit Senior Non-commissioned Officers who are serving in the training school functioning as a constructive amenity. Troops of the 17 Corps Engineer Services (CES) Regiment, together with VFTS troops provided their manpower, engineering and technical skills for the construction of Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess.

The whole construction process was successfully conjugated with earnest enthusiasm and active involvement of the Commandant and the staff of the VFTS under the close supervision of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The Headquarters of the Volunteer Force which is the highest entity, is prudently parenting its subsidiaries for the best operational management under the guidance of Major General U D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

The occasion was attended by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier Mahen Salwatura RWP RSP USP, Principal Staff Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army.
