A TRIBUTE FOR A DOOMED SOLDIER DURING THE BATTLE

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force deserves the salutation of this motherland for being defenders of the nation at every juncture where the national integrity of this country in menace. The dignified annals of this prestigious establishment dated back to decades oscillated among extremes of endeavours which have driven to itsstability of success as it exists at present. In depicting such remarkable eventualities, the erection of memorial to late Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV SLSR who made a supreme sacrifice as a gallant combatant, voluntarily for the sovereignty of this motherland, was unveiled by Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP - Commandant on the invitation of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP - Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 05 October 2023 at the Parade Ground Premises of the Headquarters, SLAVF.

Undoubtedly, volunteering is ever saluted and honoured. Such a movement devised as the Volunteer Force with the extreme determination of defending this soil could leave its imprint for the origin of the Sri Lanka Army. Throughout all its undertakings, the members of the Volunteer Force have immensely contributed in the war against terrorism in the past 30 years. One of such pioneer of the contributors is Captain Saliya Aladeniya who is the first recipient of "Parama Weera Vibhushanaya" (PWV) in the war history of the Sri Lanka Army.

In the bliss of leaving such legacy for the generations beyond, the erection of memorial to Captain Saliya Aladeniya groomed by the clan of Archers, the 3rd Volunteer Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was realized as a collective effort of the All Ranks and the Headquarters Battalion in the Volunteer Force under the expertiseofCorps Engineer Services.

The military formalities in accordance with the opening of the memorial performed bestowing merit on the fallen war heroes in the midst of all religious observances. In solemn respect to the motherland and the establishment, the gathering recited the National Anthem and the Army Song reverberating the allegiance for the country and the nationas citizens. The soldiers represented the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment hold a vigil beside the memorial and subsequently a two-minute silence was observed with respect of all such hard endeavours made by each and every soul for the eternal peace and the harmony of this country. The endowment of "Parama Weera Vibhushanaya" (PWV) was declared and the Senior Officers attended floral wreath laying ceremony with the gesture of mourns and honour. Addressing the historical event, the Commandant spelled out the supreme sacrifice of Captain Saliya Aladeniya and his subordinates who fought till the last breath in the face of ferocious foes at Kokavil on 11 July 1990. The Commandant expressed his extreme respect and gratitude for the beloved mother Mrs. Indrani Aladeniya who gave birth to a dared warrior and the then Commanding Officer- Brigadier Abayaweerakon (Retd) KSV joined the ceremony via zoom.

It is extremely rare that people become paragons on this earth in the course of their lives. Thus, this young officer advanced through the valley of heroism, and he embraced the challenge as a challenge at the time of exigency sprung up, sacrificing his life. The memory of such exceptional act as a heroic son born by the motherland of Sri Lanka is immortal and ever remembered.

අභිත රණවිරුවෙකු නමින් පුද කළ අනුස්මරණිය උත්තමචාරය

වසර 142 අභිමානවත් ඉතිහාසය පුරාවට ශ්‍රි ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදා ස්වේච්ඡා බළසේනා සමාජිකයන් මාතෘ භුම්යේ ස්වෛරීභාවය, භෞමික අඛණ්ඩතාව සහ ඒකියභාවය වෙනුවෙන් කල කැපකිරිමි උත්කෘෂ්ඨ වේ. ඒ අතරින් මාතෘ භුමිය වෙනුවෙන් තම ජිවිතය පුජා කළ හා රණක්ෂිකතයට පත්වු විරුවන් අදටත් සිහිපත් කළ යුත්තේ ඔවුන් නිසා නිදහස් නිවහල් දේශයක් නිර්මාණය වු බැව්නි. ජාතියක් වශයෙන් අප එම උදාර රණවිරුවන් සදා අනුස්මරණය කිරිම, අපගේ යුතුකම හා වගකිම වේ.

ඒ අතරින් කොකාවීල් අනුඛණ්ඩයේදී සතුරා අභිමුව බිහිසුණු සටන් ඇව්ලුණු මොහොතේ තම සගයන්ගේ චිත්ත ධෛර්ය නංවමින් මාතෘ භුමිය වෙනුවෙන් කළ අනුපමේය කැපකිරිම සුවිශේෂි වේ. 3 වන ස්වේච්ඡා ශ්‍රී ලංකා සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තුවට අයත් එවකට ලුතිතන් සාලිය උපුල් අලදෙනිය නම් වු වීර පුත්‍රයාණන්ගේ නාමය ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය යුධ හමුදා වංශ කතාව තුළ වීරත්වයෙන් යුතුව සනිටුහන් කරන ලදි.

එහිදි පලා යාමට අවකාශ තිබියදීත් මරණයේ අසීරුතාව සීරුවෙන් ජය ගත් අලදෙනිය වීරුවානන් පරම වීර වීභුෂණ පදක්කමින් පිදුම් ලැබ්මට තරම් වීරත්වයක් අප්‍රතිහත ධෛර්යයක් සහ අධිෂ්ඨණයෙන් පණ පොවන ලද වික්‍රමාන්විතභාවයක් ප්‍රදර්ශනය කළේය. පරම වීර විභුෂණය එංගලන්තයේ ඉහළම පදක්කම වන වික්ටෝරියා ක්‍රොස් පදක්කමට හා ඉන්දියාවේ පරම වීර චක්‍ර පදක්කමට සමාන වේ.

ස්වේච්ඡා නිලධාරියෙකු ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාවටත් තම මාතෘ භුමියටත් ගෞරවයක් එක්කළ කපිතන් සාලිය අලදෙනිය වීරුවාණන්ට ගෞරවය පුදකිරිම සඳහා සිය රුව සහිත ප්‍රතිමාවත්, ශිලාමය ඵලකයත් සහිත ස්මාරකය ඉදිකර විවෘත කිරිම ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද හමුදා ස්වේච්ඡා බළසේනා සේනාවිධායක දීපාල් පුස්සැල්ල RWP RSP ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීගේ සුරතින් 2023 ක් වු ඔක්තෝම්බර් මස 05 වන දින සීතාවක කඳවුරු පරිශ්‍රෙය්දී අභිමානවත් ලෙස සිදු විය. මෙම අවස්ථාවට ස්වේච්ඡා බළසේනා නියෝජ්‍ය සේනාවිධායක මේජර ජෙනරාල් තුසිත සිල්වා KSP ඇතුලු ස්වේච්ඡා බළසේනා මුලස්ථානයේ ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ හා කණිෂ්ඨ නිලධාරින් හා සෙසුනිලයින් සහභාගි විය.

විශේෂයෙන්ම එවක 3 වන ස්වේච්ඡා සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තුවේ අණදෙන නිලධාරි වු විශ්‍රාමික බ්‍ර්ගේඩියර් අභය වීරකෝන් සහ මෙවන් වු වීර පුත්‍රයෙකු ජාතියට දායාද කිරිමේ ගෞරවයට පාත්‍ර වු වීර මාතාව වන ඉන්ද්‍රානි අලදෙනිය මහත්මිය විශාලන තාක්‍ෂණය ඔස්සේ මෙම අවස්ථාවට සම්බන්ධවීම සුව්ශේෂී කරුණකි.

මෙම ස්මාරකය 3 වන ස්වේච්ඡා සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තුව හා ඉංජිනේරු සේවා රෙජිමේන්තුවේ ඒකක කීපයක ශ්‍රම දායකත්වයෙන් ඉදිකරන ලදි. මාතෘභුමිය වෙනුවෙන් දිවි පිදු රණවිරුවන් සිහිපත් කරමින් විනාඩි දෙකක නිශ්ශබ්දතාවයකින් පසුව ස්මාරකය වෙත පුෂ්පෝහාර දක්වන ලදි. මෙහිදී ජාතික ගීය හා යුද හමුදා ගීතය ගයනා කළ අතර 3 වන ස්වේච්ඡා සිංහ රෙජිමේන්තුව විසින් අවදිව සිටින මුර සෙබලුන් ස්ථාන ගත කරන ලදි.

එහිදී සාලිය අලදෙනිය රණවිරුවාණන් පිළිබඳ මතකාවර්ජනයක් ස්වේච්ඡා බළසේනා සේනාවිධායකතුමන් විසින් සිදුකල අතර වර්ණවත් වු ආචාර පෙළපාලියක් මෙම වැඩසටහනට සමගාමීව සංවිධානය කරන ලදි.

කපිතන් සාලිය අලදෙනිය විරුවාණන්ගේ අසහාය කැපකිරීමත් උතුම් ජීවිත පුජාවත් ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය යුද හමුදා වංශ කතාව තුළ රන් අකුරින් ලියවෙනු ඇත.
