INTER REGIMENT TUG OF WAR CHAMPIONSHIP - 2023 OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE

In crowning awaiting longings of sportsmen and sports women, Inter Regiment Tug of War Championship - 2023 which possesses a precise calbre in sporting, was organized coincide with the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Athletics Championships -2023 under the directions of Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, the Commandant, SLAVF.

The auspicious commencement of the competition was graced by Brigadier W G P Sisira Kumara RSP - Inspector of Training, SLAVF at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Ground, Panagoda on 06 September 2023 as the Chief Guest of the day. The finals were set on 7 September 2023 with the auspicious of Brigadier M M Salwatura RWP RSP USP - Principal Staff Officer, SLAVF.

Twenty teams of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force competed for supremacy on both days as scheduled. In the male category, Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment won the Championship while the Gajaba Regiment secured the Runner-Up slot. The Second Runner-Up was the Gemunu Watch.

In the female category, 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps secured the Championship while 3 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps secured the Runner-up slot. The Second Runner-up slot went to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.

The events were closely supervised by Major General Thusitha Silva KSP - Deputy Commandant, SLAVF. The mutual collaboration as a crew could elevate the effort a productive culmination with achievements clearing the ways for future engagements in sports.
