Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force paid its tribute of appreciation for Brigadier Shammi Kumararatna RSP Isc who is holding the appointment of Chief Intelligence Officer at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff, Colombo for his dedicated service to the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army at the Headquarters of the Volunteer Force on 28 June 2023.
Major General Nishantha Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force awarded the Senior Officer a special memento with a certificate of appreciation for his commendable service to the Sri Lanka Army and extended his gratitude and honour for his professional undertakings, loyalty and integration in achieving organizational interest at every phenomenon.
Brigadier Shammi Kumararatnaenlisted in the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 25 January 1990 with the Volunteer Intake 12. He is an alumnus of the utmost training establishment of the Sri Lanka Army; Sri Lanka Military Academy – Diyatalawa. He was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 22 September 1989 and was posted to the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (SLAPC). After being steadily elevated to the subsequent ranks during his long years of service in the Sri Lanka Army, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier with effect from 23 August 2021.
The Senior Officer retires after an exceptional service to this soil as well as the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 05 July 2023. He is an exemplary personality who obliged to his assignments of liabilities beyond the expectations of the organization.
The Senior Officer is a professionally sound military stance who has a vast exposure to military and non-military courses, conferences and seminars. The Senior Officer has been awarded with gallantry and service recognitions for his dedicated service rendered to the nation.
The Commandant congratulated him on retirement and extended his wishes for every success in his future endeavors.
