SOFTBALL INTER BRANCH CRICKET TOURNAMENT - 2023

Warming the dawn of celebration of 142 of the Volunteer Force, the finals of Softball Inter Branch Cricket Tournament was held on 29 March 2023 at the Rendezvous Ground, Headquarters, SLAVF with the gracious presence of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant, SLAVF as the Chief Guest.

The Inter Branch Cricket Tournament was organized with the overall supervision of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF. Preliminarily, a total of 09 teams competed during the last two months, and the semifinals of the cricket tournament took place on 21 March, at the Rendezvous Ground, Headquarters, SLAVF.

The finals of Inter Branch Cricket Tournament organized as a 12 -over softball cricket tournament, and the General Staff Branch was accordingly declared as the champions while pushing the Headquarters Battalion to the runner-up slot.

Apart from the above, Women Soldier’s Exhibition Cricket Match was conducted and the ‘B’ team scored 48 runs against their rivals, ‘B’ team during the finals of the Cricket Tournament.

Marking the culmination of a successive event for the forthcoming anniversary of the Volunteer Force, the trophies were presented by the Commandant and the Deputy Commandant, SLAVF for the winners amid the cheering of a large crowd of spectators.
