UNFADING VOLUNTEERING HANDS IN HAND WITH THE COMMUNITY WORK

Standing as a generous benefactor amidst hardships urged at every circumstance and hand in hand with community services whenever it demands, the Volunteer Force contributed in a distinct community project under the directions of Major General W A S S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commandant SLAVF at the charity centre: Suwasetha Girls Child Development Center during ten days (from 27 January to 09 February 2023).

The work force of the Headquarters attended renovation the barbed wire fence placed around the Charity Centre and performed a cleaning campaign at the request of the Children’s Home administration. Apart from the primary engagements during the period, twenty (20) saplings were donated and they were planted in the surrounding by the little kids on the 75th National Independence Day.

Ever so often, the Headquarters corporates in comply with their requests and integrated in overcoming their necessities voluntarily and on their request.

Sarvodaya Suwasetha Kosgama Daru- Sewana Girls' Home has been originated as a child development Centre for girls between 5 -18 years of age who have been victims due to societal discriminations. The Child Development Centre is governed by the Sarvodaya Suwasetha Sewa Society that works extensively with orphaned and abandoned children.

The generosity and the assistance fulfilled by the troops of the Headquarters were rewarded with a warm reception accorded by its administration at the Charity Centre for successful culmination of the scheduled programme.

The programme was underway with the close supervision of Major General Thusitha Silva KSP, the Deputy Commandant of the Volunteer Force and Senior Officers and Officers paid their collaboration for its heights. The Headquarters Battalion of the Volunteer Force shouldered a great burden in accomplishing the task successfully.
