COMMANDER INAUGURATES NEW HEADQUARTERS COMPLEX AND VESTS IT WITH TROOPS AT SLAVF

In realizing a prolonged-felt major necessity of the Volunteer Force, the Headquarters Complex which added glamoured to the SLAVF formally inaugurated by the top brass in the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage the Commander of the Army at the invitation of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, the Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force during a formal ceremony this morning (23rd July).

A new headquarters complex for all staff at SLAVF, is a long-awaited and much-needed necessity of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, was implemented on the concept of beyond 2020 with the objective of reviving the organization’s Headquarters.

The well-equipped 3 storied office complex, worth about Rs 75 million was completely erected by the assistance of Engineer Support Regiment and other volunteer battalions.

The day’s itinerary got to a start with the arrival of the Chief Guest at the premises, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the Commander of the Army, was welcomed by Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa the Commandant, SLAVF and was saluted in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the Sri Lanka Lanka Infantry.

Subsequently, he was invited to unveil a symbolic plaque at the auspicious time and warmed the new office complex, amid chanting of Seth Pirith by Maha Sangha and multi religious rituals.

During the Commander’s visit at the new HQ complex, he shared a couple of thoughts while appreciating the visionary development plan of the Commandant and All Ranks of the SLAVF and extended his best wishes for SLAVF future prospects.

Afterwards, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General VIkum Liyanage planted a sapling by symbolizing his arrival and he also left compliments in the Visitors' Book before leaving the HQ SLAVF.

Senior Officers including Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Director General Staff, Quartermaster General, Director General Infantry, Commander Security Force Headquarters-West, Adjutant General, Master General Ordnance, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving at SLAVF were associated with the opening ceremony.
