The “Main Entrance” of the new Headquarters Complex adorned with its identity of a proud military stance and has dominion over its new locality was declared open by Major General TJ Kodituwakku RWP RSP ndu, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army on 21 July 2022 at the Headquarters premises.
Subsequent to all diligence of a great lineage of former Commandants who cast their inspirations upon erecting the Headquarters Complex of the Volunteer Force on a new soil, the “Main Entrance”, the bequest of hard earnings was passed to its generations under the auspicious of Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, the incumbent Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as a dominant feature lasts for every time.
A gathering of distinguished Senior Officers; Major General C D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc - Commander of Headquarters Logistics Command, Major General SLEME MK Jayawardena RSP USP ndu – Chief Field Engineer, and officers attended the historic moment, and the Chief of Staff cut the ceremonial ribbon during religious observances.
In the wake of maiden steps through the “Main Entrance” amidst a spectacular cultural procession, the plaque engraved verses of arduous toil which brought accomplishments of this land mark unveiled by the Chief of Staff.
Addressing the gathering the Chief of Staff extended his compliments on accomplishments of the construction process praising the integration paid by all. Further, the Senior Officer emphasized on the accountably towards liabilities vested all the time which is a pivotal requirement in bringing the upgradation of the Volunteer Force.
In compliance with societal context, the “Main Entrance” designed preserving the glory of the land mark, “Clock Tower” as the gateway to the Headquarters Complex to the existing setting. The whole design was structured responding to the architectural configuration meeting military requirements utilizing the space carefully manifesting its identity. The set-up of the “Main Entrance” was fulfilled by the estimated cost with the assistance of available resources of man power facilitated by 10 Engineers Services Regiment and other resources of the Sri Lanka Army claiming for an economical culmination of the process.
Under a new insight of leadership, the whole process of constructions is being taken into its splendid appearance, and a transitional period which accelerates the ongoing process of constructions reaching to its heights was urged by incumbent Commandant. The drive that directs the way forward anchored successfully at the destination of Volunteer Force in stepping ahead amidst blessings of all religions on so faith of the Commandant.
Following the main event, the Chief of Staff visited the new Headquarters Complex which is waiting to be its warming in few days ahead.
In memory of the inauguration of “Main Entrance”, the Chief Guest left a note of appreciation appraising the endevour which marked it successful culmination.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks who are pursuers of this expedition are gratified all the time. Indeed, such legacy will pass over generations beholding the pride and honour of the Volunteer Force.
