SLAVF EXPANDS THE CONCEPT OF GREEN SOLDIER

The one more phase of the Concept of Green Soldier which initiated by Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, the incumbent Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force launched at the camp site under the auspices of Lions Clubs 306C1 today (8 July).

The concept was implemented in view of restoration of the eco-system of the entire establishment, transform the soldiers as green soldiers and form a model green camp through green soldiers.

During a short span of time, the SLAVF embarked on the third phase of the concept successfully with Lions Clubs District 306C1, it was initially distributed 300 rain forest saplings of Jack, Rambutan, Ceylon Olive (Weralu), Mangosteen and Mango in order to achieve the concept.

District Governor Lion Gamini Kumarasinghe, symbolically distributed the endemic fruit saplings to the Commandant SLAVF to plant at the camp site.

Project Chairman Retired Major Lion Thushara Samarathunga, Former District Governor Lion Amal Pussellage, Senior officers, officers, Other Ranks of SLAVF and the members of the Lions Clubs District 306C1 participated for the event.
